Eye of Eos - ArtPrize8 2016 - Showing at The B.O.B.

Eye of Eos is my entry in ArtPrize 8, it is a 8 ft. tall by 5 ft. wide oil painting of a Corona Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights.  I drew my inspiration for my painting from an Aurora that I witnessed at my house in 2001.  Mind you this is before the digital photography era we have now.  I had no way to actually capture the Northern Lights.  It appeared directly above us and looked exactly like the Iris of an Eye.  There were all colors, but red was by far the most striking of them all, so vivid and hypnotizing.  The distinct glowing green lit up as ground as far as you could see in all directions like a green Sun shining in the night.  To me the Northern Lights are one of the most mesmerizing things to witness in nature.  Watching them shift and dance like dust softly blowing in the wind is truly enchanting and leaves you always hoping to see them again.  I choose the name Eos from the  Greek Goddess Eos also known as Aurora.  Thank you for taking the time to enjoy my work.
